Course Description

Our Associate’s Degree Program is designed for those who are passionate about practicing yoga. Our curriculum provides the tools you need to both deepen your individual practice as well as to give you the ability to share your Yoga experience with other people.

On our courses you will learn to give yoga classes on 4 basic Yoga types: Hatha Yoga, Kriya Yoga, Mantra Yoga and Pranayama Yoga. You will learn basic Yoga theory, including Axiomatics of Yoga.

Students who complete the Associate’s Degree Program in OYU will be able to demonstrate:

  • A broad understanding of theory and practice of Yoga.
  • Critical thinking skills via analysis and material studied in the contemporary study method in Yoga.
  • Preparedness to conduct practical classes on Yoga: Hatha Yoga, Kriya Yoga, Mantra Yoga, Pranayama Yoga and Meditation.

Curriculum

The Open Yoga University online Associate’s Degree completion program consists of completing 108-weeks online learning.

Courses

On our Associate’s Degree program you will learn the theory and practice of basic Yoga types: Hatha Yoga, Kriya Yoga, Mantra Yoga and Pranayama Yoga. After the Associate’s Degree program, you will be prepared to complete your undergraduate liberal arts degree and become a certified Yoga Instructor.

Admission

The Associate’s Degree Program seeks candidates for admission who are academically well qualified and fully prepared to successfully maximize this unique pedagogical approach. The program is designed for motivated adult learners (age above 18) who desire to complete their associate degree within a virtual community of similarly high-achieving individuals. Candidates for admission should be ready to make a commitment to this selective program and participate in rigorous courses with students like themselves.

The admissions committee considers far more than prior academic records to select students that meets our ideals. While reviewing candidates, the committee will look for:

  • Filled and handed application form with all required documents
  • Work/professional activities indicating maturity and appropriate motivation
  • Demonstrated commitment to complete this special program
  • Successfully completed Pre-University Program (not compulsory) or
  • Successfully completed basic Pre-University courses (including IQ-Test) 000-003 at yogaopenyoga.com with a minimal score of 80 % + submitted homework for the courses
  • The equivalent of a suiting English certificate (TOEFL / IELTS)
  • College-level course in mathematics or a related quantitative area (SAT / ACT / GMAT / GRE)

The admissions committee will also consider the applicant’s life experiences and professional activities as an indication of preparedness to commit and engage in this special program. The admissions committee meets regularly and makes decisions on a rolling admissions basis.
